Hello family and friends,
I can hardly believe how fast time is going by. I'm not complaining though, I have been enjoying the days, despite the usual weekly challenges. I thought that I would be in a new house by this time but I am not. Maybe I will have a little more luck over the next 2 weeks. Still no stove in the house which is going on about 5 weeks. Thank goodness for my crock pot, it has trully been our lifesaver. I've come to realize that you can cook just about anything in it and it still comes out looking half way decent and tasty!!!
Jorge is in the crazy mode at work this month. Needless to say we see him much less than we would like, but hopefully December brings easy days and plenty of vacation days for us. He just went to a soccer game between Toluca and Pumas, of course it was a good time.
I am keeping busy despite the fact I have no social life. I just scrap booked 70 pages. I still have more to do, but thought I would take a break as my creative side is exhausted. I just finished a book called "The House at Otowi Bridge." This book I picked up in a second hand store in Sun Valley, Idaho. Who would of thought a book such as this would have been so good for me in a time like this. Besides the book having way to much landscaping detail, it basically describes the life of a woman in New Mexico, as she learned to love and appreciate the Indian culture and life, where on the other spectrum, only 30 miles away was Los Alamos where the nuclear bomb was being developed to destroy lives. There was one quote that I particulary liked that I would like to share with you all, it says, "This morning I stood on the river bank to pray. I knew then that the ancient ones were wise to pray for peace and beauty and not for specific gifts except fertility which is continued life. And I saw that if one has even a small degree of the ability to take into and unto himself the peace and beauty the gods surround him with, it is not necessary to ask for more." The world really is beautiful whether your in the U.S. or Mexico there is beauty everywhere. As I was thinking about this quote and how really blessed we are, it came to me that the different countries I have lived in have really enriched my life and you come to realize as you leave that country what things become special to you and hold great memories. I have now started into a regular exercising schedule and it has been enjoyable. (Martha please save me the Lifetime magazine, I miss it!!). I gave my first spanish talk in church and believe it or not, it also went well. I think everyone even understood me;)
Adriana is doing well. She just won a prize in her Irish dance class for the best dancer. She loves to practice and is doing really well. Things also seem to be going well for her at school. It's amazing how much spanish she has already picked up. She still has an accent, but hopefully that will improve with time. We got her hair cut on Friday, and it looks soooooo much cuter. This month they had two celebrations. One is called "Dia de la Raza" which basically is celebrating Christopher Columbus. She participated in a dance for there school presentation. The other holiday of course was Halloween or "Dia de los Muertos", day of the dead and they do somethings a little bit different. It's common to visit the cementaries on this day, and they do something called an "ofrenda" which is a table they set up and put food on it as an offering. (see below for pictures.)
Justin is doing much better. He unfortunately had a school accident that hurt his finger really bad. It left him with a fractured bone, nailess for the time being, and 10 stitches. It was really sore for about 3 weeks but he is now back to normal....that being a crazy boy!! He is now into collecting tazos which disgustingly come only in small bags of potato chips. Go Figure!! Luckly, he has a uncle here who spoils him way to much and adds to his collection weekly. He got to perform a dance in there Halloween presentation. They danced to Thriller by Micheal Jackson. He did a really good job.
Diego is growing up but too much into electronics. He thinks he already knows how to run the computer and the DVD machine. I hope to get him into Gymboree soon. He's still as cute as ever and those eyelashes are too die for.
The best news for me, is that I will be traveling to Utah on the 12the of December for a week and a half to visit family and friends. I am so excited to see everyone and also enjoy Christmas shopping with others instead of by myself. I sure hope that this letter finds all of you well. Jorge and I were very sad to here that our neighbor in Michigan is very sick and in the hospital. We miss our friends there very much. Take care too you all, and hope that you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and remember our Heavenly Father who has given us all so much.
Take care,

THE SANCHEZ FAMILY
Hello once again family and friends,
I hope that this blog finds you all well. Life has been interesting to say the least. Lets just say that we will return to the U.S. with some good stories, the challenge may be to arrive "all in one piece."
"To eat spaghetti or not that is the question....???? Let me explain. About 11/2 weeks ago I set out to make spaghetti for dinner. I had the noodles all cooked as was just getting ready to add the sauce when the bottle slipped from the counter and went crashing to the floor. It was a big red mess. I then had to go to plan B, a white sauce. Lets just say my kids did not go to bed with a full stomach that night. Yesterday, I again set out to make spaghetti. I made an effort to go shopping at Cosco to buy the sauce and make sure we had everything we would need to have a good dinner. Unfortunaetly, this accident was not funny but really quite scary. I had the food cooked and on top of the stove when I turned the oven on to cook the bread when the oven exploded, (yes, it's a gas stove). The kids were sitting at the bar and I was infront of the oven. The food, pots, and metal parts of the oven went flying everywhere. Thanks to Heavenly Father, the kids were not hurt and me, well my injuries were very very minor. After calming screaming cries and pretty much yelling at the owner, who knew there was a problem with the stove, we got everything settled down. The second spaghetti disaster was definetly a much bigger mess to clean up. So what do you all say. Should I ever attempt spaghetti again, or are we doomed from ever eating one of our favorite Italian dishes again?
I must say, the weather has been really great, but don't you fear you snow weathered friends, winter will also be cold here, just without the snow. We'll take as much of the nice weather as we can get for now.
The kids are doing pretty good. To say that they've adjusted, well.... not yet. Justin has finally fit into school and doesn't really complain anymore. (I think that's partly due to at lunch he can by collectors cards and he loves it.) Adriana, however, has been our concern in regards to school. By Thursday night she's had it and Friday morning is always a morning of "I don't want to go to school today." I'm just thankful the school week is only 5 days or we would be in big trouble. She however, is doing marvelous in her Irish dance and that has been a big boost for her.
Jorge is busy as usual with work, but according to him the next 2 weeks will be low key, so we are really looking forward to that. I am doing good. I finally hooked up to a gym and started exercising. I need to get Diego adjusted to the kids room, sometimes it's only him, but after that I might be able to accomplish a full work-out. I've been reading up a storm, which I haven't done in a long time so it has been really enjoyable.
Besides the few daily challenges we have, we are enjoying Mexico and being close to family. It has really been a blessing for Jorge's parents to have some of their grandchildren close and you can see the extra happiness it has brought into their lives. They are catching on a little more to our Sunday habits, that of keeping the Sabath Day holy, and they are now more into prayer. It's good to see advancements even though they may be small. Our good friends, upon seeing my "Family Home Evening" board that Leanne made for me, has also decided to participate in doing such a night with their family. That consists of a lesson, song, scripture, prayer and activity.
We sure hope that all of you are doing well. It's always so wonderful to hear from friends and family. It makes us feel like we're not so far away. Take care everyone and hope to hear from you soon.
Sending lots of love,
Marianne and the Sanchez crew

THE SANCHEZ FAMILY
Hello family and friends,
Well, we have now entered the blog family. Many of our friends in Michigan who also travelled abroad used this as it was easier. Well see how it goes. Things are finally getting done this week. I finally got the internet, yeah!!, hopefully my dryer comes, and my oven is supposed to be fixed today. Today I went to a presentation at the kids school. It was really wonderful. The kids marched, sang the national anthem, some classes did a theatrical production, other read poetry, Justins class did a dance. Adriana's class didn't participate in this one. Justin did such a great job. I didn't know however, that he would be dancing this morning. They said to put something mexicano on so Jorge bought him some little hat to wear. It would have been better if he had worn something "Mariachi" but we didn't know. It was great to seem him dance a traditional dance of Mexico.
They will be offering Irish dance at the school but I don't know if it will be too easy for Adriana. We'll see what happens. Hopefully Justin will decided to take soccer as it might help him to relax and get rid of some of the stress of school. As I mentioned before the kids have exams next week. We know the kids will excel in the English part, but who knows what will happen on the spanish part.
Jorge leaves Sunday night for the north of Mexico. He will return Monday night. His work seems to be going well, but they are now doing construction in front of his work, so he has to take a taxi to work for a while. What a pain, but there are a million around here.
My wood furniture came yesterday. I bought 3 bar stools, a little table for the microwave and a table for the entrance. They turned out nice and it's something different as it is typical of some Mexican furniture. Beleive it or not, just two houses over from us, 4 guys from the U.S. that work for Jorge's company just moved in. We might be seeing a rainbow mat out before long if you know what I mean.
We met with bishop this week. He said that people have already asked for us for callings. We don't know what they are yet. I hope I can do okay with mine as it still can be intimidating speaking in Spanish all the time.
Well we love you lots. Hope all of you are doing well. Take care and keep in touch.
